CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

PETITE BALLET

Children will learn basic ballet movement and terminology through imaginative instruction, building motor skills, confidence and grace throughout the season. The use of props and engaging music aid learning by creating a fun and playful environment. Children will gain the foundation needed to take on new challenges at higher levels. Pink ballet shoes and pink tights are worn for all ballet classes. Hair should be pulled off the face in a bun.

TAP

They'll learn to keep the beat, with their feet! Beginning tap steps and rhythm combinations are learned in these beginning levels. Black tap shoes are needed for all combo classes that include tap.

HIP HOP

Add a little funk! An introduction to hip hop specially designed for our youngest petite dancers. This high energy class is an integration of hip hop music and dance style! Always appropriate, parents can count on age-appropriate music and movement in class and performance. Tennis shoes and hip hop warm-ups can be worn for these classes.

TUMBLE

Encourages coordination, spatial awareness, and fine and gross motor skills. Students will begin to build strength and flexibility by learning a variety of skills and training exercises (i.e. somersaults, bridges, cartwheels, handstands). Students take tumbling and acro classes in bare feet.

JAZZ

This class will focus on learning the basics of jazz technique such as isolations of the body, leaps and turns! Tan jazz shoes are needed for this class and students may wear dance shorts or leggings over their leotard and tights.
